GENDER AND SCIENCE IN CONVERSATIONS ABOUT THE MOVIE RADIOACTIVE

In this paper, we analyze public perceptions about the film Radioactive, based on the trajectory of the scientist Marie Skłodowska-Curie. By using content analysis, we examine conversations about the movie on the social network Twitter, identifying three main aspects: cinematographic, scientific, and gender issues. These categories were balanced and interconnected, reinforcing the film’s potential to promote science communication and to debate social issues that permeate science. The results also highlight the exaltation of Marie Curie as a woman scientist, demonstrating that gender inequalities in the field were discussed not only linked to her historical time but related to the contemporary.
