FROM TV TO SOCIAL MEDIA
THE IMPACT OF ENGAGEMENT ON INSTAGRAM AND TWITTER ON JOURNALISTIC COVERAGE OF MIGUEL'S DEATH
Keywords:
engagement, social media, journalistic mediationAbstract
In this article, we investigate the engagement from public on Instagram and Twitter that resignifies journalistic mediation of television about of the death of the boy Miguel. Tension between engagement in social media and mass communication model is verified by generation of self-organized online content through the hashtag #justicapormiguel. Engagement generates a response system that gives new meaning to news coverage from NETV 2 newscast, by TV Globo Recife, and from news reports by TV Jornal, SBT Recife, triggering circulation of new meanings about the case on the platforms under study.
