Abstract

The purpose of this article is to reflect on the changes in the dispositions between body and space in the context of mobility - where individuals can act in various places through mobile devices, without remaining sealed to a particular place or time - investigating a phenomenon of the current relevance that scholars of the relations between media and society call "transmian activism". This expression, coined by the researcher Lina Srivastava (2009), refers to the possibilities that the transmidia narrative offers to movements that propose initiatives of social change. It is a question of activism in the current media system with a multiplatform structure in which the production / sharing of content takes place in a society with people connected by a cause, opening the way for dialogue and instigating commitment to action. In order to discuss the impact of mobile telephony on this phenomenon of transmian activism, we will take as object of study the social interactions that have been established through online platforms based on the use of mobile phones in recent social events in Syria.
