THE PATH OF THE “SABRINA, THE TEENAGE WITCH” MEDIA FRANCHISE AND THE DIFFERENT TRANSLATIONS IN THE CONSTRUCTION OF FICTIONAL WORLDS

Media works acquired new formats such as transmedia storytellings (JENKINS 2009), which are characterized by the narrative developed by different converging and complementary media. According to Câmara (2018), the transmediation occurs through transmedia translation practices of genres, formats and languages, a concept considered by the author as a comprehensive term of the different denominations used by the producers: adaptation, sequel, prequel, reboot, remake, among others. To analyze this practice, we selected the franchise “Chilling Adventures of Sabrina”, whose latest expansion was called a reboot. We identified how the practice of transmedia translation expanded the matrix narrative and its relationship with consumers.
