Looking at Optical Media
Keywords:

Friedrich Kittler's book is a stimulating story of images, ranging from techniques from the Renaissance perspective to computer graphics. It focuses on the principles of archiving, transmission and computing, which have led to the media's transformation of the image up to the beginning of the 21st century. The darkroom, magic lantern, photography, cinema, television and computer, as well as measurements of light, projection and circulation, are topics addressed in this work by the German media scholar, who attempts to systematize optical media according to their technical and scientific foundations, and their historical contexts as well.Downloads
