Aesthetic innovations in TV: Gabriela's sertão-Ilhéus crossing

We will discuss the stylistic innovations present in the sequences that portrayed the drama of the crossing of the sertão to Ilhéus from the title character of the telenovela Gabriela (Rede Globo, 2012) in order to highlight an elaborate work of visual composition to the detriment of dialogue. We will show that historical, cultural, technological as well as aesthetic aspects played a role in the stylistic construction of the crossing event. We will conclude that in this process of production two aspects call our attention: the insertion of the dialogues, made in an unusual way in narratives of this television genre, and the presence of a shared imaginary of the sertão.Downloads
