The book by Paulo Roberto Barbosa, From Trick to Special Effect: The Cinema of Segundo de Chomón (São Paulo: Terceira Margem, 2014), traces the trajectory of the "greatest operator of tricks of all times", as is recognized by the Spaniard who worked for Méliès and Pathé, as well as founding the first producer of Spanish films. Colorist, photographer, director, screenwriter, documentary filmmaker, as well as a pioneer in animation, Segundo de Chomón, who was mainly a master in visual and special effects tricks, also develops pioneering coloring methods for cinema. The book by Paulo Roberto Barbosa is not only a biography of one of the greatest talents that cinema has ever had, but also a historiography of cinematographic art.Downloads
