Some Methodological Reflections on the Transmedia Television Reception
Abstract
In current television studies, a common and permanent trait, and therefore, perhaps most importantly, has been the concern with the degree and the mode of participation of the audiences before the emitted messages. Retaining the communicational dimension of these studies, it is possible to affirm that in countries like ours, of late and excluding modernization, what matters is not only to identify and describe (repeatedly) the dynamics of this participation, but to provide means to extend it and qualify it, (Castells) and its "media ecology" (Postman). In order to achieve this goal, it is essential to adjust the focus of television studies to the present of the "network society" (Castells) and its "media ecology" (Postman). In it, it is possible to emphasize, in principle, two moments in the relations of the audience with the television: before and after the entrance of the participation of the receiver in the processes that encourage the transmission and the interactivity.Downloads
