The look and the counter-perspective
Keywords:

Based on the meanings built by the different modalities of the look, we propose in this work the notion of counter-perspective. The perspective - and with it visual immersion - concerns the alignment between the viewpoints of the theoretical observer and the one who actually looks at the image. The counter-perspective, in turn, corresponds to the vision of those who, being themselves part of the image, symbolically look to whoever sees them. After describing and discussing this spatial construction and its characteristics, we briefly discuss the particular case of self-portraits and suggest possibilities for future research.Downloads
